There is no doubt that Big Thief is one of the great bands of our time. With their collective approach, telepathic interplay, and an almost cosmic unity that far exceeds the sum of its parts, they have breathed new, much-needed life into band culture. That singer and guitarist Adrienne Lenker released a five-star album with Bright Future in 2024, that Buck Meek gave us the delicate Haunted Mountain in 2023, or that drummer James Krivchenia recently shared Performing Belief matters less — because when Big Thief plays together, time stands still.

Together, the American quartet explores the deepest possibilities of what it means to be a band in a way that is searching, organic, and deeply intuitive.

After the widely praised double album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You from 2022, it’s now time for Big Thief to release its follow-up! The album, their sixth, is titled Double Infinity and will be released on September 5. It was recorded live over three weeks at New York’s Power Station together with producer Dom Monks. Judging by the four tracks already released — especially the first single Incomprehensible — we can expect yet another triumph.

The band’s imaginatively named tour, Somersault Slide 360 Tour, will come to B-K on April 10.

Support: Dylan Meek.
